John Hance began his law enforcement career in the prison system in CA after serving in the U.S. Army. This foundational experience, combining military discipline with correctional operations, has profoundly shaped his leadership approach, with a strong emphasis on mentorship, professional development, and accountability.
A citizen recently messaged asking what areas of the Sheriffs Office need improvement. He added he wanted specifics instead of the “standard campaign schpeel”. And hey, we can respect that! We responded with the message below, which gave us valuable insight to a unique situation.
“It’s a hard question to directly answer. But ultimately, the Sheriff and I are two very different people with different leadership styles and philosophies on how to run a business of that size/scale.
